Does have their own set of rules, requirements and personalities, which sometimes mesh nicely with the buck's sole purpose: to procreate. Period. Sometimes, however, there are problems.
Does that get impatient with the buck, and lift their rear so high so quickly that he's either left behind, with nothing to do but try to reach, or thrown off of her entirely, leaving her annoyed and him confused.
Does that don't want to be bred, plant their rears firmly on the floor, and glare at me until I relent and take her back to her own cage to try breeding her another day.
Does (Zero!) that are such a blatant hussy, that she will rip her own ear in the process of pushing through a wire dividing wall to get to the buck of her choice. Twice! Faust, you charmer, you!
Then there are the bucks. Mostly, they see a doe, and their brain melts down to laser-like focus: BREED THE DOE. NOW! Sometimes, they bring their own challenges.
Bucks that just aren't that into the doe. They'll nuzzle and snuggle her, then lay down next to her for a nice comfy nap together.
Bucks that have no lack of energy and ambition, but absolutely no sense of what to do - mounting so far up the doe's back that there's no chance he'll ever "hit" anything, mounting her side or her head (this can actually be dangerous for the buck; if she's annoyed enough, she can bite him in...delicate...places).
Bucks that want to take it slow, romance her, and either she'll get impatient with him and mount him to show him what to do NOW or else, or she'll get bored and notice that handsome buck just across the way and start to lose interest in the sweet but slow talking buck right next to her.
The struggle is real, people! So, the next time you hear someone use the term breeding like rabbits, I hope it will make you smile ;)
